Ninjam for me is a means for
Ninjam for me is a means for playing with the constructs of music with only the minimum rules necessary for prosperity.
It enables you to explore music and playing with others with a free spirited, no-pressure atmosphere,
which is exactly what I opted for.
I recently re-watched on Youtube 'The pleasure of finding things out' a lovely documentary about the brilliant Richard Feynman,
and something he says about how he just wanted to explore the physics and just play with it, after the war - this totally reminded me of why I strongly feel for Ninjam. (and Ninbot of course :p )
I think it may provides a remedy for some psychological traps that can hinder musicians in their advancement...
...being able to jam with
...being able to jam with other people anytime the mood strikes you.
(...without having to move
(...without having to move your gear either!)
...a new set of limitations
...a new set of limitations to be inspired by. The interval rules the jam with an iron fist. I like to figure out ways to evolve the jam given that the chords must repeat within the interval. Musical cues between musicians are stretched out over the interval, into the future. In that context, the chord progression can evolve naturally, but it requires that everyone listen for the change, and that everyone acts (more or less) quickly when the change occurs.
Also, ninjam is a source for so many bad-ass one chord and experimental jams, which always work, irrespective of the interval.
What is ninjam NOT to me? A place to shoe horn non-intervallic music into intervallic form.
It's also an incredible
It's also an incredible opportunity to learn about how strangers make music together spontaneously. :)
For me it's like a Big
For me it's like a Big Sponge, that absorbs the musical knowledge of others.
Then that sponge is squeezed back into the server.
But mainly all the great people I meet and there own little piece uniqueness that they bring to a jam.
You will be assimilated, resistance is futile. :)
Ninjam is fantastic, far
Ninjam is fantastic, far more useful and still miles ahead of any other music site on the net. And commenting about the rudenss thread on here at the moment, have you noticed how the rude up themselves dickheads are usually cast aside by ninjams inbuilt evolutionary mechanisms. In the end like any other unsuccessful mutation in life they end up isolated, or only associating with other mutant ningenes. Problem solved. Ninjam will prevail.
Ninjam is listening,
Ninjam is listening, communicating, participating, creating. It's about where 1 is - even if you're violating the interval :). The interval will prevail...
Ive always felt Ninjam is

Regarding Karl's "I like to
Regarding Karl's "I like to figure out ways to evolve the jam given that the chords must repeat within the interval", I think that's made possible by players taking a break on occasional triple-intervals. This would let you hear what another player wants to do with the tune during your break. If there's alot of players this would have to be done frequently by all, which is always a nice thing anyway. Whattya think?
I used to frocking love the
I used to frocking love the TIME TUNNEL, I need to watch it complete though.
Didn't they cancel it? All these great dam shows they constantly just cancel. :/
its a tool to jam without
its a tool to jam without move from home
that have a really long list of nice side effects:
the same you can haveby by openly sharing live experiences with others

Ya right Pete about the
Ya right Pete about the natural evolution of NINJAM, it does balance out eventually, I just hate seeing the damage they can cause on the way through.

@Hooserdaddy: Yup. More to come in the future....
Karl this works also if
Karl this works also if someone squares there playing to minimal, softer and little complexion.
I'll do this with piano sometimes and just make flat chords with just the little expression to emphasize a bass or drums.
Trying to stop and line it all back up might be a challenge as NINJAM won't have all players at a specific gap of beats or interval to each other. So at times it could sound like to some that players have just stopped playing then the jam might stop altogether.
And no it's not me, I don't think so anyway, but then I could have been drunk. :)
