Jam Videos

several ninbots have posted nice multi-screen video of their jams.
i am very curious about how everyone is doing this.
Hand33 told me he is using Adobe Premier and I love look of his multi-screen screen.
I think each of the locations had a live camera rolling and Hand33 brought
them into the software. I don't think they could see each other as they played.
And I like to do that - no visuals of the others. But audiences reeeeealllly
want it. So...

Mainly I have used iChat and UltraVideoconferencing (McGill). If you are playing
to live video of the other locations please chime in with your specs here.

I would like to have more options for live video of the other locations during a jam.

We use the tokbox widget (

We use the tokbox widget ( http://www.tokbox.com/ ) in a regular html page. it's free, doesn't require registration and holds up to 6 live video feeds. The window is a bit smalish but you can change that in the code. People who visit the page will see the participants (well.. theoretically they can join in too...). You do have some administrative rights though.

Mnycam is free and u can

Mnycam is free and u can remove the logo in the text options in effects by just un-ticking it.
Many cam now does picture in picture so 2 cames or video and cam and so on can be used.
http://manycam.com
There are a few other free ones about that do multiple cameras and these also output as 1 normal cam output so can then be streamed in livestream, ustream etc.
Splitcam is another, and there was one in production that had a beta out last time I check but can't think it's name, I'll find it and post the name here later.
WebcamMax allows multiple camera's to be made into 1 screen then output as one camera device too.

There also allow not just camera's but also say a screen grab, so you could get someone's cam up on screen, through anything that does cam then capture the screen area there cam is on, then you can say mix this with live camera's your end too. You cna also get a IP Cam driver, I think WebCamXP as it was known now has a free IP Cam Driver, this means someone else can run it and you can pull them straight into say manycam, webcammax, split cam etc with out a need to capture the screen.

With things like tinychat and so on, you can grab the screen area but when peoples cams stop or more cams enter they turn to a white blank space or resize so grabbing the screen can be a pain. It works best if people have there own cam page, then ya get up multiple windows, resize all to fit on screen, and with things like ustream etc when the broadcast stops they can have a picture display with could be a photo, then when cam is live again they resume.
So this stops blank white boxes showing on ya live screen and a pic will show if there cam goes offline.

The best way to achieve this is to take the embed code of all the cams, make a webpage with a table, put the embed code in each cel of the table then you can have them all same size and together then just grab form the one page.

Oh tip to make flash and stuff smaller is too use firefox, press CTRL and scroll ya mouse wheel with in the page then everything gets smaller of bigger, depending which way ya scroll ya mouse wheel. It will probably work in some other browsers too.

That Tokbox looks cool too that PA links to above,

I think the upload bandwidht

I think the upload bandwidht available here is not enough to stream the both A/V, may deal to ninjam sync: 384 Kbps never granted (220kbps jecking NOW)
:(

Hi synthany, I believe that

Hi synthany, I believe that livestream.com can be used to combine multiple cams into 1 stream.

What I think you do basically is designate some kinda like admin account and then invite the other broadcasters to join your stream.

Livestream allowed for the

Livestream allowed for the team to manage the page, pull there cams in but before it didn't allow for mixing of live sources.
Mind you it is something many have wanted for some time, is this doable now Mutant?

I think Wowza server has

I think Wowza server has some info about using a special module or .smil playlist to switch between live sources.
Maybe you could check their site.

There could even be some other programs but idunno.

Did ya get sorted

Hello Synthany, The way

Hello Synthany,
The way Hand33 and I executed our video was by just setting up two cameras and hitting record. Hand33 then sent me his two angle recording via the internet (yousendit.com). I then imported my video, Hand33's video, and the mix generated by NINJAM to the video editing software Adobe Premiere. A bit of editing and nudging to make sure everything is in sync and presto one jam video. I hope this helps.
