(The "Audio" thing definitely isn't working..!)

It's long and in several parts but there's so much that's good about the whole half-hour-or-so I didn't want to edit into separate bits.
The downside is I think both I and Wilhelm are too loud. You can't really hear polmac on mouthorgan (really nice playing, as always) and tommy57 on guitar.
I was peaking (on drums) at about -3dB - because I'd got my input track level dropped. I'm loud because I've got a limiter slapping +14dB gain onto my signal. (My drum samples are mastered to peak at -6dB and have a floor around -72dB -- that's a lot of expression but generally it's lost; I don't like using a compressor live: I've not found a free one I like - I much prefer the effect of the limiter (Kjaerhus Classic).)

Wow, that sounds better.
9dB on the Limiter, +2dB on the Local channel so I can hear myself. The mix sounds really, really nice. (I only get OTT in a few places. It shows the dynamics off really quite well!)
Oh... but... I didn't get time last night. This next bit is great.

On first one sound like a lot ain't playing, sounds ok'ish though but a bit empty, I'm talking as a listener here nothing more.
I would say though that people just sit back, listen, and should fill in the gaps in their mind, now just run up the keys, find the note of whats in your head and play, if you can't play what you hear try playing half the amount to make thing easier and this also then gives room for others with the same instruments to get in on the action.
Which also allows some of the more trickier bits which playing alone would be hard to achieve.
An example can be found when listening to Synthany's players at the Uni she works at, they play off each others parts to complete the segments that one alone can not play.
This might sound hard but its not, just sit back relax and listen, you will hear a part. If you play say the 1'st and 3rd not of the part it will still be better than too much that flows too much out of key and others will hear your parts and fill the missing pieces.
This is not to PLJ but to all who have trouble finding a part as too many play the same progressions or widely out of key which either leads us back to the same old tunes, to become uninspired or for half the server to leave.
I'm not blameless in this either, I have been increasing my current progression's with new keys and orders to play them. But still keeping in ninjam fashion of keys most played.
What gets most us playing best is like a trigger, we hear someone else play and then play off of them then it spreads and good music comes out but if people play random out of key or like country music along with say Floyd then others don't get it, the music doesn't progress and so on.
I find this happens a lot when people don't like a style so sorta have a tantrum with there instrument, but there's an easier way, change server. There's 3 NINBOT and loads more.
But anyway if its gonna be out of key and bad sounding it might as well be an attempt at something new or different.
Ya drumming was a lot better there PLJ, ya timing was much tighter, ya really improving a lot.
Timing went out the window
Timing went out the window just after the first one and just before the second one..! :) The second one was definitely down to me... I'm getting better at knowing how much drift I can cope with and pulling things back to the click before losing it. The second example I mention was when I didn't -- drifted too far and then hadn't a clue where in the bar I was!!
Yes, you've got to have a bunch of people who can feel a piece the way it wants to go. It helps, I guess, if you listen to a wide range of music. I don't listen to much "new" music outside rock (prog through heavy metal, not really into thrash and the more extreme forms). I've always liked jazz (trad and bop, some big band), though. But I've no interest in "electronica" at all - it simply doesn't do anything for me.
I'm getting better at hearing drum parts in the music I do listen to. That helps me to break things up more - more ideas on where to accent and how, etc. I'm still putting too much "fill" in at the end of each interval - I'll have to come up with some simpler ideas!
It was quite an interesting weekend with the NINJAM server farm out. The previous time that happened, the NINBOT servers weren't much fun. This week, I had three really good hours (out of four).
