Ninjam LIVE into RSS Updates

My list is down atm, host problems but it is doable, but could mean more hammering of servers.
It cool idea but how list is achieved its bandwidth that would be used to inform someone on a mobile phone who isn't probably in a situation to jam taking needed bandwidth.
So if it was done it would be like how Tom does it here in NINBOT, list is updated regular then save for site use, saves on lots of hits to the servers.
It's then just hit once and site distributes the info to others, but would be nice if ninjam servers using limited bandwidth, reported info to a central list, on set intervals and server changes like server connects, disconnects etc. This would have to be encrypted in some way though as not to leave a master server open, but also then this could leave a master server open for attack. :|
But it would be nice if server info wasn't gained by checking every server individually as servers with low bandwidth this can be a problem and cause disconnects.
But Tom could possibly create a rss from the info on the page or every time his does a sever update, but this would mean a lot leeching his server list and posting it on there pages as there own. Which is like other people taking credit for your work.

If I had the PHP code for http://ninjam.dyndns.org/index-new.php I'd be able to make an RSS stream from it fairly easily.

Well, the truth is, I can enter Ninbot from my mobile and see all latest forum posts etc, but the Ninbot Live feature is absent due to its 'Widget-ness' style.

If Ninbot Live had a link of its own for example, We could probably manage to use that from the mobile's browser.. Though RSS makes it easier and cheaper to just grab the data and stay in offline mode :)

How well does something like a live status translate to an RSS stream?

Can it just be a single entry but update when queried?

The RSS response would be generated on the fly when queried, anyway. I'd go for one item per server/port. It's always down to the client to expire items no longer available on the feed, I believe.

Its almost like making a text file from the info Tom but in rss script format but that's normally generated from the commands used in PHP.
So it should be as simple as passing on the data from one to the other or load some strings and dump to a php at the end.

When I did the Ninjamers list I read servers from a script based file so I could easily add new servers but I did look into using PHP to achieve it, I didn't need to in the end but it looked easy enough to grasp.
From what I remember it was just a case of using commands with $ to write to a php file and that the commands did the rest.

Ninjamers list is down atm :( need a host with fsocks enabled, tried a few now, just have to keep goign till I get lucky, but most have it disabled due to spammers.

That's Damned Servers, sorry I didn't mean list for them servers.
My problem is I have no host to host the php code for the list I had on http:/ninjamers.ning.com , ninjamer.com is another site run by damned and they are his servers.
I had streams with same player as you and managed to get it fixed for ie and ff so then used 1 player for all servers. I had ninbot on there as ya probs remember but had small home user servers, plus couple of others Neimad got on his too. Biggest prob is people's smaller servers, atm there not able to see who's in there server and users are not. Was handy for private and small public servers, some asked on info to run servers so I did a server setup, they are mostly in Japan and area's where they have bad connections or want 2 or 3 people servers for the private shows.
These servers are down atm :| so people can't see who's in there servers or in friends servers. There only small 3 to 4 servers but it's really handy for private stuff they do. Not really suitable for like how NINBOT does it but it lets people do there stuff and not vanish into the abyss.

Do you know if there's anything that can be done to bypass the fsocks problem?
Or could you host the list? you'd be welcome to use any of the code.
It's comes in form of a html page, minimal, just small tiled background, then the 2 php files but these are edited for some extra things plus extras for the audio player and a txt file which is a small script file it reads server info from.
It's in the form of:
Public,ninjam.dyndns.tv,2049,user,pw|
or
Public,ninbot.com,2049,user,pw,http://ninbot.com,http://ninbot.com:8000/studio|

first is minimal line 2nd has link url and stream, on the page it has the player up top then a listen on any server that has a radio stream which is determined on whether there is a url there.
Either end can be omitted and just , left in if stream but no site link or both just left off or just site on and other left off.

I'd put all credits to ya etc on the list where i put it too which would be on the main page where it was before in its little box. I got a small bit of ninbot content on the main page, I use it a lot, when i go on there I see latest stuff that's happened on here and click then I'm here, it's pretty handy.

I'd understand if ya didn't want to but would be appreciated by a few and lots by me if ya could m8.
