Drummer Wanted for Virtual Live Band.

I'd recommend having a word with Slickback or Mutant.

But I seriously doubt my little DSL connection would support being simultaneously logged into in SL and using Ninjam.

Maybe Stroman Roland could do it, there are a few drummers here I know.

BTW - One time in SL I saw this like really messed up Animal Husbandry type of Farm World place where people were apparently doing all kinds of disturbing virtual things to sheep... but thats a whole other story.

could one just play in ninjam, without being in SL,and join your band for those virtual gigs? i mean technically

not saying im really interested(unless your band does mostly improvisation),but for the shake of curiosity

thanks for the replies, it not necessary to be in Second Life for the gigs we can create a AVi and sit it on the drums for those watching in SL if you dont have one, we also transmit our shows on the web , here a recording...

we have a set list of around 25 songs, and try to add to it regularly, so most songs have some sort of format to them, but they are still basically 8 or 12 bar jam songs. We also occasionally play with guests at our shows

If you can't get a drummer maybe 6 of us in a NINJAM server using audio to midi on a bunch of mics could combine to make a Casio sounding drum kit. :P :)

As to the SL VLB thing, (did you guys copyright that name or something? Or is that a generic name that many SL bands use?) that link you sent is inactive - is it only for live streaming, or do you have any archived shows?

I'm kind of curious about the whole "playing in SL" thing, esp if there's the possibility to pick up a little coin, ya know what I'm sayin'? I could use a little extra cheddar, and if I'm gonna be playing anyway, why not let some toher cats and kits enjoy it live, with the opportunity to "make a generous donation using your Paypal account"???

I'd be interested in doing a SL concert, but only if it could maybe take place somewhere cool like that horrible Sheep-Love 3d world I mentioned earlier. That place was truly twisted.

i joined SL yesterday.....a great time wasting device imo,not saying is uncool,just that is another virtual thing,like ninjam,but you not only got chance to play in a jam, but also "live" into there,virtual = fake living, i prefeer good ol s*** of real life,my time to spend on the computers,internet its all booked,no room for more (and i really hope to lower dossis slowly :)),anyway for some concerts by a ninjam server, that is ok for me ,i guess songs are not much difficult as bpi regulates them to be just not too long loops of a chord progression ,unless pika or ninjaz take controll,i've seen them doing 64 bpi stuff where each beat is a whole measure! (may be a bit exaggerated,but to get the wiew)

Hi Doorthe, yes "Virtual Live Band" is the name of our band, and is often shortened to VLB, and yes you can get paid for gigs in Secondlife, but in the last year there are less and less venues that pay. I was under the impression that there was a Ninbot Stage in SL as im sure i came and joined in once or twice a year or so back.

In 2008 VLB played around 150 gigs, in 2009 we have not play more that 30 or 40. with SL is very easy to lose a lot of time in there (and $$$), these days i only go in to play gigs.

Mutant if you play in SL i'm sure we can find some Sheep type groupies for ya ;-)

Lose money in SL? How ever so? Please forgive my ignorance.

SL has it own economy so whats its all about is shopping , to make you avatar bling you can buy clothes shoes hair skin etc, if you want a place to keep your virtual sheep you can buy virtual land. For this you need to buy Linden $$$ with real $. on the up side if you good at building ,photoshop, designing etc... you can make these things and sell them.

TBH I love SL, but all the people in there are weird, they all look perfect and many of them look like each other but with different clothes. Also they Dance a lot, kiss and well some places it's just dam right strange what they do.
So that's what I think of Santa Land but that SecondLife places is wicked, just don't post a link unless you checked with all inside a bar, place, or club and anyone outside, also check that someone else visiting does not have some rule where they inhabit on SL that contravene with some rule in the place your in and that this doesn't not effect the statutory rights of a SL Citizen or their friends in any way, form or shape.
If you have a question ask in a begging way as not to upset any person/s, do not show any knowledge of any kind that may make you smarter on any topic than any moderator of any area.
Ask anyone and everyone for permission to do, say or think anything whilst in there.
If ya get past all that crap then you can actually find some decent people but one thing people tend to think in there that the longer they been using it the more they know and more highly ranked they are, and in fact SL was around many years ago before most of them even heard of it, and there were people in there like them before they were. :)
But no seriously there are some good people in there who are worth meeting but for every 1 there are 5 more nutters. :)
And if you ever find the FaceF*CK, only use it to find friends on an Island. :D
